Liam Manning provides an update on Ryan Hardie and the Huddersfield Town situation.

Huddersfield Town manager Liam Manning has issued an injury update on midseason acquisition Ryan Hardie, who has yet to make his debut for the club.

The striker, who came on loan from Wrexham during the winter transfer window, has yet to make his Terriers debut as he recovers from a knee injury sustained in late 2025.

Huddersfield drew 2-2 with Blackpool in the League. Despite Hardie’s absence, the club won one last Saturday, but were defeated in the EFL Trophy by Doncaster Rovers on penalties a few days later.

Manning’s side is looking to rebound from their Rovers setback and will look to enhance their play-off bid when they go to Stevenage on Saturday.

Hardie made only six Championship appearances for Wrexham in the first half of the season and hopes to hit the ground running at Huddersfield once he is able to play again.

Manning told the Yorkshire Post that the 28-year-old seemed to be recovering well from his knee injury. “He’s moving well, striking balls and finishing.”So I believe he is headed in the correct direction. We hope to complete the remaining integration tasks by the middle of next week.”He’s a valuable addition to our team and someone we’re eager to reunite with. But at the same time, I’d much rather wait one extra game and keep him for the balance of the season than rush him one earlier and perhaps lose him for a higher amount.”So it’s about finding the correct balance. Of course, we want to win games right away, and he’s someone who can help with that. So we’ll take a chance on it, but there’s also a balance and a narrow line to not be careless with it.”

Ryan Hardie might be the final piece in Huddersfield Town’s promotion puzzle.

The Terriers sit fifth in the League. Following last weekend’s draw with Blackpool, they now occupy a play-off berth with only 15 third-tier games remaining.

However, Manning’s side’s top scorer, Leo Castledine, left the Accu Stadium last month as Chelsea terminated his loan spell in West Yorkshire, opting to sell the prodigy to Championship league leaders Middlesbrough.

Huddersfield’s next leading scorer is striker Bojan Radulovic, who has seven goals and five assists in 19 third-tier outings but is presently out with a hamstring injury.

Aside from Radulovic, the Terriers’ forwards have struggled in front of goal this season, which Hardie, a recent arrival, can help fix.

The 28-year-old was a valuable asset for Plymouth Argyle in the Championship last season, scoring 10 goals in 37 league games despite the Pilgrims’ relegation to the third tier.

Hardie was even better for Argyle in League One, scoring 13 goals and assisting four times in the third tier as the Devon club won promotion to the Championship in a successful 2022/23 season; that record suggests that when he’s fit, the Scotsman could be a valuable asset in Huddersfield’s push to return to the Championship.
