Leicester City on the approach of securing a Man City move – Pep Guardiola has rated him a “top player.”

Leicester City are preparing to sign highly rated Manchester City youngster Divine Mukasa on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

The Foxes have had a difficult first season back in the Championship, sitting in the lower mid-table and without a manager after parting ways with Marti Cifuentes last week.

Despite this, Leicester are aiming to bolster their squad ahead of the second half of the season, and they are close to bringing the highly anticipated Mukasa to the club.

That’s according to world-renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who disclosed on his X account that the 18-year-old will join the Championship side after the two teams agreed on a loan deal.

After a rough start to 2026, Leicester fans will be relieved to hear that they are on track to sign one of City’s most promising young players.

Leicester City agree to recruit Divine Mukasa on loan from Manchester City.

Leicester’s return to the Championship has not been as straightforward as it was two years ago. At the midway point of the season, the Foxes find themselves in the midst of mid-table upheaval, which is far from ideal.

So far, the former FA Cup winners have not added a single player to their team, leaving many fans concerned about the possibility of relegation if their troubles continue.

However, in a positive update, Romano disclosed that Leicester have agreed to loan Mukasa to the club for the remainder of the season, allowing him to continue his development by playing consistent first-team games.

The 18-year-old is the latest in a long line of bright prospects to emerge through Manchester City’s systems, having already made six professional games for the Citizens, contributing two assists, and appearing twice in the Premier League this season.

Pep Guardiola described the teenage attacker as a ‘great player’ when he debuted in the EFL Cup against Huddersfield in September, and now he plans to loan him out to the Championship for the rest of the season.

Divine Mukasa will be a great addition to Leicester City.

Regardless of how miserable the campaign has been so far for Leicester, the news of Mukasa’s imminent signing will be a hugely uplifting piece of news in what has been a desperately poor few weeks for the Foxes.

While it is always risky to loan out a young player with little experience, you can’t help but believe the teenager’s pedigree, combined with his limited experience in senior football, will make him a great addition for Leicester.

Man City will be eager to see their starlet thrive on loan, and with more of their academy products breaking into the first team, Makasa will hope to be the next if he succeeds at the King Power Stadium, adding a bit more creativity through the middle of the park instead of relying on Abdul Fatawu’s brilliance from out wide.
