Breaking News: UEFA announce final decision on punishment for Jude Bellingham gesture

Switzerland vs. England squad, quarterfinal match starting on Saturday at 5 p.m.

What will the England manager do this time around with the appalling displays we have witnessed thus far, largely due to his ill-advised choices and strategies?

Once again, Southgate has amazing luck at important championships. England struggled in an easy group consisting of Serbia, Denmark, and Slovenia.

But then missing out on a possible elimination path to the Slovakian final, Switzerland, and finally the Netherlands vs. Turkey victors.

Only one of France, Spain, Germany, and Portugal can advance to the final in the other half of the draw.

It was the last thing England manager Gareth Southgate would have wanted to be without his Real Madrid star for this match against Switzerland, given his wild tactics during the Slovakia last-16 match, in which Jude Bellingham miraculously scored a goal with 30 seconds remaining.

That nearly happened, though, as UEFA announced that they were looking into a gesture Jude Bellingham made to tie the score against Slovakia in the closing moments.

However, as of right now…

Report from BBC Sport, July 5, 2024:

Bellingham was fined €30,000 by FIFA for violating “the basic rules of decent conduct.” The suspension, which is for one match only and will only start if Bellingham commits the same offence again, is also suspended.

Jude Bellingham will, happily, be able to play against Switzerland (and if he makes it to the semifinals and final) despite receiving a one-match ban that is suspended.
