Manchester City prepared to make minimal changes to Pep Guardiola’s squad despite money available

Despite having the funds to invest, Etihad Stadium officials are allegedly willing to make few changes to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team.

Despite a tour of the United States approaching and preseason preparations and training regimens returning in around two weeks, the Premier League champions have not yet made any official additions to their first-team roster for this summer.

It was thought earlier in the season that Manchester City’s four-game east coast US trip would provide a chance to evaluate the quality of new recruits, but as of right now, it doesn’t seem probable that any will play.

Having said that, it appears that one contract is almost finalised. According to sources this week, Savio, a player for Brazil, will sign a five-year contract that would keep him at the Etihad Stadium through the summer of 2029.

Although the attacking prodigy seems destined for a spot in Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup for the upcoming campaign, might the 20-year-old be the sole new player joining the team this summer?

Sam Lee of The Athletic has information that suggests Manchester City may have a “pretty quiet” summer even if the team intends to make deals and has the cash on hand.

It is clarified, though, that administrators at Etihad Stadium believe Pep Guardiola’s team is “strong” and doesn’t “need major rebuilding” until certain players depart.

Regarding departures, which could possibly account for the lack of enthusiasm to conjecture about significant roster changes, the report states that it is presently “considered unlikely” that an excessive number of players will depart Manchester City this summer.

It is still possible, though, that representatives of Manchester City are waiting for the conclusion of the two big competitions in the sport that are taking place this summer in North and South America as well as Europe.

For instance, Bruno Guimaraes and Joshua Kimmich, the club’s top targets for central midfield, are presently participating in the later stages of the European Championships and Copa America, delaying their futures until after the competitions.

Guimaraes’ current contract with Newcastle United has a release clause that recently expired. If Manchester City wants to sign Guimaraes, they will have to negotiate a price with their Premier League rivals.
