Premier League set another FIVE major rule changes as automated offsides get the green light

Officials from the Premier League have revealed a number of rule modifications ahead of the forthcoming 2024–25 season.

New Premier League regulations will be implemented prior to the 2024–2025 season.

After defeating Arsenal for the second year in a row, Manchester City will be vying for five crowns when the season begins in August. One of the verified adopted modifications is that Premier League clubs would benefit from the technology, with automated offsides being a big subject at Euro 2024.

While not all of the proposed rules are likely to be implemented, there has been a lot of discussion—some of which are confirmed, while others are still in the early stages of the proposed rule-makers’ process—on FourFourTwo. What about the others, then?

Although we are aware that automated offsides are coming, did you also realise that team news would be changing? In an attempt to comply with UEFA’s rules, which are applicable to the Champions League and Europa League, Premier League clubs will be required to turn in their team sheets fifteen minutes earlier than they did the previous season.

A tweak that would increase the allotted time for goalkeepers to possess the ball from six to eight seconds would also provide them extra time. Although goalies are rarely punished for this, if the Premier League approves it before the following season, this could escalate timewasting to a new degree.

Team captains are the only people permitted to communicate with referees over their decision-making during Euro 2024, demonstrating the tremendous clampdown on dissent. Players who disregard the rules have been promptly given yellow cards, and we at the top support showing respect for the referees.
