Marcelo Saracchi was sent off during the first half of Celtic’s match against Kilmarnock, causing them to endure yet another serious blow. While pursuing a through pass on the overlap, the Uruguayan full-back pulled up shortly after the 20-minute mark and instantly signaled to the bench for help.

As Saracchi received treatment, referee Don Robertson stopped play. The defender was holding his right hamstring, which was concerning for Celtic’s already thin roster. On the touchline, Kieran Tierney was prepared and was introduced as the replacement. The fact that Saracchi refused to utilize the stretcher and was able to leave the field on his own gave some hope that the situation might not be as serious as initially thought.
Nevertheless, it adds to Celtic’s already lengthy list of injuries, which already has Jota out and Kelechi Iheanacho, Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Callum Osmand out. As they continue to struggle with a packed fixture schedule, the Parkhead team is currently running out on choices.Johnny Kenny’s early goal, his fourth in as many games under interim manager Martin O’Neill, had put Celtic ahead 1-0 at the time of Saracchi’s retirement.
