After resigning as manager of Middlesbrough, Edwards was given permission to speak with Wolves on Saturday. Edwards only joined Boro in June, and Wolves will make an announcement shortly.

The next Wolves head coach, Rob Edwards, has agreed to a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Middlesbrough is expected to get compensation of between £3 million and £4 million.
Following his removal from Boro’s Championship match against Birmingham and his authorization to communicate with Molineux officials, Edwards has been in negotiations with Wolves since Saturday.
Edwards is poised to take over a Premier League team that is now at the bottom with just two points, and a formal announcement is anticipated within the next 24 to 48 hours.
The 42-year-old would later miss Friday’s training session and pre-match press conference before the club agreed to allow him to talk with his previous club. Boro had first rejected a request from Wolves, having only hired Edwards in June.

After Vitor Pereira was fired on November 2 after the Premier League season began with a 10-game losing streak, Edwards was reportedly a contender for the Wolves position, according to Sky Sports News.
The former Luton Town manager has a history with Wolves, having played there from 2004 to 2008 and made over 100 appearances.
Why Edwards, why Wolves?
Actor Adam Bate of Sky Sports:
It may be hard to understand why Edwards left a Middlesbrough squad in the Championship’s automatic promotion spots for a Wolves team that hasn’t won in 11 Premier League games. The probability of Boro finishing in the top division the next season are lower.
As Luton had an outstanding start to their season in the top flight, Edwards received a lot of praise for his management of certain emotional difficulties within the club. After failing to stop Luton’s decline, he had been repairing his reputation in the North East.
Even if his ties to Wolves are strong, the public’s goodwill may wane after this contentious decision.
He joined the team as a 21-year-old from Aston Villa, and his century of appearances is not the only accomplishment. Edwards began his coaching career at Molineux, where he worked under Kenny Jackett, Walter Zenga, and Paul Lambert. In 2006, he even managed two games as an interim manager. Having grown up in the Midlands, he has relatives in the region. The house is still there.
Managers also have a tendency to support themselves.
He will witness a team full of international players who only need some organization and confidence, despite Wolves’ current situation. It’s still a Premier League opportunity for the time being. And it’s so hard to refuse those.
