The Ajax decision is detrimental to Celtic’s quest for a new manager.

Since the Hoops have not yet found a replacement for Brendan Rodgers, Ajax’s decision is terrible news for Celtic’s next manager hunt.

Appointing a manager in the middle of the season is undoubtedly a difficult undertaking. For a team like Celtic, who require a certain type of personality to fill the position, it is much more difficult. Given the reality of life at Parkhead, not everyone can come in and handle the pressure to win almost every game.

An established name like Ange Postecoglou taking the position would be ideal. However, it appears that he has no intention of returning to management so soon after being fired twice in a short period of time.

However, Celtic has yet another challenge in their search for a new manager. John Heitinga was fired by Ajax this week.

Celtic will face more competition in the managerial market as a result. As they try to fill the open hot seat, it’s quite possible that both teams will have certain objectives in common.

One excellent illustration of this would be Kjetil Knusen. In June 2023, Ajax was granted permission to speak with the manager; however, he declined, opting to remain in Norway. Will the Dutch club now pique their curiosity again?

At the end of the year, Knutsen’s contract is scheduled to expire. And after winning so much since joining Bodo/Glimt in 2018, there have been hints that he might be eager to try something new.

It’s unclear if Ajax will make another attempt to sign Knutsen. However, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Dutch powerhouses also had Nicky Hayen on their radar. Erik ten Hag appears to be the front-runner for the position, which is wonderful news.
