Danny Rohl’s assertion regarding the Auston Trusty controversy will be adored by Celtic.

Celtic fans should appreciate Danny Rohl’s claim concerning the situation involving Auston Trusty in the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

Celtic did not have a good previous record versus the Rangers heading into last weekend’s Glasgow Derby. Furthermore, Brendan Rodgers had quit as manager just days before, leaving the Hoops in a bad situation. Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney were called in as acting managers of the team.

So, most Celtic fans would have been concerned before the Glasgow Derby. And there was every reason to believe so.

The Hoops did triumph at the weekend, however, with a 3-1 victory against the Rangers, securing their place in the Scottish League Cup final. Furthermore, it is apparent that the mentality at Ibrox has not altered despite the change in ownership during the summer.

Following the Glasgow Derby, there was renewed speculation that the Rangers had been treated unfairly. All the discussion was about how Auston Trusty had not been dismissed. It makes no difference whether side of the fence you sit on when it comes to that incident. But why not include the penalty that Danny Rohl’s team received on the day? Or the Benjamin Nygren goal that was chalked off? The day was not without controversy.

Celtic will love Danny Rohl’s claim about Auston Trusty controversy

Rohl has been at Ibrox for a few weeks. But based on his statements about the incident at Hampden Park, you’d think he’d been there for years. As reported by the BBC, the Rangers manager spoke on the potential red card incident involving Trusty:

“I think this is a little tough for me to understand.

“For me, it doesn’t matter if it’s from the side or the front.”
To be honest, Celtic should be ecstatic at Rohl’s words. It only demonstrates that things are pretty much the same at Ibrox.

If you ask the Rangers, every loss in a Glasgow Derby appears to be the result of a refereeing decision. So, long may it continue.
