Achraf Hakimi in Tears After Horror Moment With Bayern Munich’s Luis Díaz

The Paris Saint-Germain right-back was forced off during Diaz’s first-half challenge at the Parc des Princes.

Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain fled the pitch in tears after Bayern Munich’s Luis Diaz was sent off for a dangerous challenge on him.

Bayern got off to a fast start in Paris, with Diaz putting the visitors ahead after only four minutes.

The reigning Champions League champions struggled to get started in the first half and fell further behind when the Colombian scored his brace on 32 minutes.

However, the former Liverpool winger went from hero to villain in first-half stoppage time with a poor challenge on Hakimi.

Diaz attempted to reclaim the ball from the Moroccan as he surged forward before sliding and landing on the PSG star’s ankle.

Hakimi appeared to be in pain in the aftermath of the incident, leaving the pitch in tears and being assisted off by teammates.

Italian referee Maurizio Mariani initially showed the Colombian a yellow card, which was later upgraded to red after a VAR review. Diaz will be suspended for Bayern’s match against Arsenal on November 26. The extent of Hakimi’s injury is unknown, but some fans have expressed concern that he will miss the forthcoming AFCON, which begins on December 21 and will be held in his native Morocco.

Several supporters resorted to social media to share their thoughts on the tackle.

One said, “This is one of the most reckless tackles I’ve ever seen. Luis Díaz may have ended Achraf Hakimi’s season and prime of his career.

Another added: “I believe that if he does not go off wounded, the card will remain yellow, but it is up to the referee’s choice. Hakimi is aiming for the foul, so while the tackle isn’t attractive, it was completely unintended.

A third stated, “Scissor challenge from behind.” Went straight for his legs, without even coming close to the ball. No contact with the ball. He broke his ankle. There’s not much more to it. “Red was well-deserved.”

A fourth participant stated: “What I’ve been dreading for months about Hakimi and the chain of all the matches and so on has just happened, but it was so predictable, Hakimi will be out for the AFCON.”

While a fifth exclaimed: “Hakimi is hurt on his birthday and will most likely miss the AFCON in his home nation. “What a horrible scenario.”

PSG return to Ligue 1 action away to Lyon on Sunday, while Bayern travel to Union Berlin on Saturday.
