Arsenal Create Piece of History That May Never Be Repeated With Brighton Win

Arsenal advanced to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after a 2-0 victory.

Arsenal made Carabao Cup history with a 2-0 victory over Brighton, a feat that may never be replicated.

Mikel Arteta’s side continued their fantastic start to the season on Wednesday night, progressing to the quarter-finals, where they will face Crystal Palace.

Ethan Nwaneri broke the deadlock after 57 minutes with a composed left-footed goal, and Bukayo Saka added a second 14 minutes later to secure the victory.

Arsenal have made an outstanding start in all competitions, winning all three Champions League group games and leading the Premier League by four points.

October has been a particularly successful month for Arteta’s team, with six wins in all competitions.

Surprisingly, they have done it without surrendering a goal, becoming the first top-tier English team to accomplish this feat.

Arsenal last conceded on September 28, when they came from behind to defeat Newcastle United 2-1.

Who has played for Arsenal during their record-breaking run?
Arsenal started the month with two consecutive home wins, defeating Olympiacos 2-0 and West Ham 2-0.

Following the international break, the Gunners defeated Fulham 1-0, due to Leandro Trossard.

Their most dominant performance came against Atletico Madrid, when they scored four goals in 13 second-half minutes, and new addition Viktor Gyokeres broke his seven-game goal drought.

Last weekend, Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace 1-0, with Eberechi Eze scoring his first goal for the club against his previous team.

Wednesday’s easy win against Brighton brought Arteta’s side’s record to six games, six triumphs, and no goals surrendered.

What can Arsenal do this season?

Arteta is increasingly set to win his first major title since winning the FA Cup in 2020.

After three second-place finishes, Arsenal appears to be on the verge of winning the league title.

With reigning champions Liverpool underperforming, Manchester City once again appear to be their main title contenders.

Despite Erling Haaland’s talent, Pep Guardiola’s team is not at the same level as when they defeated Arsenal for the title in 2023/24.

Fans will also be enthusiastic about Arsenal’s chances in the cup competitions.

Last season, they reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009, but were defeated by eventual champions PSG.

In the Carabao Cup, they were eliminated at the same stage by Newcastle United, while their FA Cup campaign ended in the third round after a penalty shootout loss to Manchester United.

However, if Arsenal’s defence continues as solid as it has been throughout October, Arteta’s team may complete the season with several trophies.
