The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Dunfermline Athletic in the second division of Scottish football, and he has joined Rugby Park following the hamstring injury suffered by first-choice goalkeeper Max Stryjek.

Eddie Beach, a former Chelsea trainee, replaced Stryjek against Hearts last weekend, making his league debut for Kilmarnock, but he conceded three goals, and the club has moved rapidly to conclude a contract for Oluwayemi ahead of this weekend.

Oluwayemi joined Celtic from Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, however he has yet to make his professional debut for the Bhoys, and Brendan Rodgers has not included him in any first-team matchday squads this season.

Kilmarnock secure the acquisition of Celtic goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi.

An official announcement on Kilmarnock’s club website read: “We can confirm the signing of goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi on an emergency seven-day loan from Celtic.”

“The 22-year-old London-born shot-stopper progressed through Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic’s junior systems, getting significant experience on loan with Cork City, Admira Wacker in Austria, and, most recently, Dunfermline Athletic, where he established himself as first-choice goalkeeper.

“Oluwayemi joins Kilmarnock for an initial seven-day period, in accordance with SPFL rules on emergency loans.”

Celtic confirmed the news by writing on X: “Tobi Oluwayemi has joined Kilmarnock on emergency loan.”

Oluwayemi is expected to make his Kilmarnock debut against Celtic’s archrivals Rangers on Sunday, and his loan deal could be extended.

Kilmarnock has 10 points from their first eight league games this season, and they are now fifth in the Scottish Premiership rankings. In comparison, Celtic are in second place, with 17 points after eight games.
