Terland scored 15 goals for Brighton last season

According to reports, Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion are nearing an agreement to sign striker Elisabeth Terland.

The Norway international scored 15 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions to finish as the Seagulls’ top scorer in the previous campaign. She left SK Brann to join Brighton in 2022, and she competed for her nation at the Women’s World Cup this past summer.

The 22-year-old’s contract expires at the end of June, and United hopes to finalise a deal before the upcoming international break, per BBC Sport. The Reds’ desire to add to their attacking lineup after Spain international Lucia Garcia left is evident in their interest in Terland.

In 60 games for United, Garcia netted 16 goals, including a brace in the Women’s FA Cup final this past month. This summer, she is anticipated to join the Mexican champions, Monterey.

“I am going to miss every single piece of Manchester United,” Garcia said to club media as she thought back on her time at Leigh Sports Village. Everyone here—my friends, the team, the employees, and the workers themselves. Leaving the fans is, in my opinion, one of the hardest parts. I can feel their support for me. Both of us seem to love each other.

“I simply feel like ‘boom, boom, boom’ in my heart when people sing my name. They give me the willpower to carry on and never give up. But I have to say goodbye at the end of the day. I can just say to you all, “I love you (from) the bottom of my heart,” since that’s very difficult for me.”

Garcia is one of several first-team players whose contracts at United expire this summer. Keeper Mary Earps is anticipated to sign a free move to Paris Saint-Germain in France. Nikita Parris, a forward, and Katie Zelem, the club captain, are also without a certain future.
