According to reports, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has made a definitive decision on whether to replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
After United’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford on Saturday, Amorim’s situation came under further scrutiny.
The result places them 14th in the Premier League rankings, with just seven points from six games.
The defeat saw Amorim’s side struggle defensively, with the Portuguese manager once again questioned over his decision to continue with his favoured 3-4-3 system.
According to BBC Sport’s Simon Stone, United will continue to back their existing manager until the end of the season.
However, if they continue to do poorly, they may be forced to take action.
Glasner, who has led Palace since January 2024, has long been associated with the Old Trafford position.
Under Glasner, the Eagles have won the FA Cup and Community Shield since May, and they are the only Premier League team still unbeaten after six games.
In reality, Palace has not lost in any tournament since a 5-0 setback at Newcastle in April, 17 matches ago.
Glasner reportedly vowed to leave if Palace sold captain Marc Guehi to Liverpool on deadline day earlier this month, but he promptly denied the reports.
The Austrian’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he told Kicker earlier this week: “I’m aware of the whispers [about his future], but that’s all they are. I’m remaining neutral and cool, focussing on my everyday work with the players and staff, and simply trying to enjoy it.”
But, according to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs, Glasner would accept the United position ‘in a heartbeat’ if granted it.
“My information is that if Oliver Glasner was offered the Manchester United job, he would take it in a heartbeat,” Jacobs told reporters.
“As a result, Manchester United will believe there are competent managers, including some with Premier League experience, eager to transfer. There are possibilities close to home.
“I don’t think Glasner’s similar system to Ruben Amorim will deter Manchester United.

“I believe Ruben Amorim has made tactical errors, including incorrect selections, pairings, and chemistry. So, is there another way, even within this system, to give Kobbie Mainoo more game time? Or is Bruno Fernandes in such a deep hole?
“Ruben Amorim’s challenge at Manchester United has not only been to get the most out of the system, but also to make all of his top players feel at ease and play well together.
Glasner, as he’s proven at Palace, [Andoni] Iraola, as he’s shown at Bournemouth, and [Marco] Silva, as he’s shown at Fulham, have all demonstrated a track record in the Premier League with lower budgets and greater constraints of achieving squad chemistry, which is currently lacking at Manchester United.”
