MUFC suffered another setback over the weekend, increasing pressure on Amorim.
Manchester United have set up a three-man shortlist to replace Ruben Amorim, as pressure increases on the former Sporting manager.
Amorim watched as his side suffered a 3-1 defeat at Brentford on Saturday lunchtime.
Igor Thiago scored twice early on to put the Bees ahead, while Benjamin Sesko halved the deficit with his first goal since joining from RB Leipzig in an action-packed first half in the capital.
Bruno Fernandes missed a second-half penalty that would have brought United level, his second of the season, only for Mathias Jensen to seal the three points late on, meaning United have not won consecutive league games since Amorim’s arrival in November.
United have won only two of their six league games this season and were knocked out of the EFL Cup in the second round by lower division Grimsby in what has been a disappointing start to the 2025/26 season.
And Saturday’s west London defeat has increased the pressure on the board to relieve Amorim of his duties, as the Premier League superpower continues to struggle under the 3-4-3-loving head coach.
United have announced their three-man shortlist.
According to talkSPORT, United have compiled a three-man shortlist of potential replacements for Amorim if the club decides to fire the 40-year-old, albeit there is no indication that he would leave soon.
Sir Jim Radcliffe’s selection includes Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola, and former England manager Gareth Southgate.
Glasner is doing wonders for Palace, having led the Eagles to FA Cup and Community Shield victories in recent months, which came amid an 18-game unbeaten streak.
Iraola is another who has admirers at the club, though both would be difficult to obtain given that the two are firm favourites at their respective clubs.

Southgate, meanwhile, is out of employment after being fired as England manager following the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 defeat to Spain. He was a favourite of former United sporting director Dan Ashworth.
The recently fired manager is also an option for United.
However, the trio are not the only names in the running; the club is also interested in a possible out-of-the-box candidate.
Graham Potter, despite his recent dismissal as West Ham manager, is regarded well by the leadership, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.
Potter was stripped of his duties as Hammers manager on Saturday morning and replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo, the former Nottingham Forest manager, only two days before the Monday Night Football match against Everton.
Potter disappointed after leaving Brighton for Chelsea in September 2022, and was fired after only eight months at Stamford Bridge.
Potter, 50, was only in charge of the London Stadium for nine months, but he could return to Premier League manager soon.
