Bruno Fernandes is normally one of Manchester United’s most consistent penalty takers, but his recent attempt against Atalanta startled supporters – and not in a good way.
In a unique and hazardous manoeuvre, the Portuguese midfielder took the penalty from a standing posture, with scarcely a run-up. Fernandes appeared to be trying to surprise the custodian — or perhaps impress the crowd with a daring, never-before-seen move.
The end product was nothing short of strange.
The effort lacked power, direction, and control, and it veered off target in unexpected ways for a player of Fernandes’ calibre.
