Why Roma fans could be banned from entering Celtic Park by UEFA

The Europa League began in midweek, with the league phase of the competition.

Celtic fans came to Belgrade to watch their team face a difficult challenge against Red Star, but they performed admirably and earned a point.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s incredible finish into the top corner gave Celtic a solid start, and they are currently ranked 17th in the table.

The Hoops face Braga next, but fans will be most excited about the encounter versus Roma at Celtic Park in December.

However, according to reports, there will most likely be no Roma supporters at Parkhead for that game.

UEFA could ban Roma supporters from Celtic Park

Roma won 2-1 over Nice in France on matchday one of the Europa League.

However, the event was marred by violence, with the Daily Record stating that French police arrested 100 people when away fans attacked the officials.

According to the newspaper, 13 persons are scheduled to appear in court in November after having weapons confiscated, including ‘knives, rocks, knuckle dusters, and hammers’.

It means that UEFA is extremely likely to ban all Roma fans from visiting away grounds for their next three league phase fixtures, including Celtic on December 11.

Celtic against Roma might be a rather calm affair.

If Roma fans are truly barred from entering Celtic Park in December, the mood might be considerably altered.

Not only are the away supporters absent, but many Celtic fans want to boycott the game due to the board’s persistent hostility.

Celtic announced a four-match home Europa League ticket package for fans, but it was received with considerable criticism on social media.

Even when the Hoops made general sale ticket access available for particular games, many fans expressed their displeasure.

The graphic above shows that there are still lots of seats left for the Roma encounter in December, despite the fact that this game usually sells out rapidly.
