Andre Onana Stuns Fans With Dramatic Moment in Second Trabzonspor Game

The Manchester United custodian has joined the Turkish club on a season-long loan.

Manchester United fans couldn’t believe what Andre Onana accomplished in only his second game for new team Trabzonspor.

After a difficult two years, United custodian Onana ultimately departed the club on September 11 to join Turkish club Trabzonspor on a season-long loan.

The Cameroon international signed the Red Devils from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 for £47.2 million, although he failed to impress in 102 appearances in goal.

After United manager Ruben Amorim elected not to play Onana in any of the club’s first three Premier League games, while also bringing in new goalkeeper Senne Lammens on deadline day, it was evident that the 29-year-old’s future lay outside of Old Trafford.

And it’s safe to say that Onana has made an impact since joining the Super Lig club, with many United fans surprised by his most recent performance for his new squad.

Just three days after his transfer was completed, Onana made his Trabzonspor debut against Turkish giants Fenerbahce, collecting player of the match honours despite his team’s 1-0 loss.

However, in his second encounter for his new club, Onana added to his strong start by assisting colleague Paul Onuachu’s equaliser.

In the 70th minute, with his team behind 1-0, Onana took the ball outside his box and blasted it towards the striker, who beat four Gaziantep defenders and their custodian to gain a point for his team.

Reacting to the occasion, one United fan tweeted on social media: “Andre Onana just assisted Trabzonspor’s goal.” Leave Manchester United and become a decent footballer again.

A rival supporter added: “Every player thrives away from United.” “A rotten club.”

Another United fan stated, “The perfect league for him, but they’re not letting him do this in the Premier League.”

Although Onana seemed to be enjoying life with his new club, United fans will be content without him as their team scored a key victory over Chelsea soon before Onana’s performance for Trabzonspor.

A tumultuous contest featuring red cards for both sides ended with the hosts winning 2-1, thanks to goals from captain Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.

Altay Bayindir, a Turkish custodian, earned his fifth Premier League start of the season for United, with new acquisition Lammens yet to make his debut.
