Mohamed Salah has moved to social media to call out a Liverpool account for ‘disrespecting’ two of his former teammates. The Egyptian King has maintained an active online presence in recent seasons, capturing the final moments of his tenure at the pinnacle of English football.
Last season, as the Reds won their second Premier League title in five years under Arne Slot, Salah began a nostalgic tradition of photographing each goalscorer after each victory. It enabled him to preserve recollections of players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez, all of whom left this summer.
But, as humble as the 33-year-old is – often keeping a low profile to avoid conflict – his most recent post saw him criticize a Liverpool account for showing disrespect to former players in favour of the club’s shiny new additions in the forward line over the summer, as the Reds’ proactive recruitment team oversaw spending of over £400 million to fix the roof while the sun was still shining.

Much has been made of Liverpool’s summer splurge, which has fueled hysteria among the fans, who now believe they will retain the title after spending £116 million on Florian Wirtz and another £125 million to sign Alexander Isak.
In the midst of all the excitement, some have gone too far, using the new era as a stick to beat the old one, despite the fact that the previous Liverpool group was successful on its own. On X, an account named ‘Anfield Edition’ slung shade at Diaz and Nunez, causing Salah to repost and retaliate (see below):
“How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the Premier League champions?”

Despite Nunez’s troubles, Liverpool adheres to the values of their hymn, “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” which means that any unwarranted criticism is frequently dismissed fast.
The fan account has since responded, writing: “While we acknowledge Mo Salah, the purpose was not to disparage, but rather to highlight the outstanding transfers this summer. But we apologize, @MoSalah. “In our opinion, more right than wrong.”
Certainly, the Reds are in a healthier position than they were last summer, but they sold and lost some key players to get there, as evidenced by the fact that, contrary to popular belief, their net spend this summer is not the biggest in the Premier League. Nunez will be missed for his speed and aggression, Diaz for his versatility, but the club is still in capable hands.
