Manchester City Player Wages [2025]

Manchester City – and their boardroom bosses, in particular – have always had plenty of cash to splash on new signings, and the same is true for the weekly wage bill, with some of their players being among the best-paid in England’s top flight.

It’s no secret that Manchester City, a former European champion, isn’t afraid to pay their players a lot of money to keep fighting for the title of England’s dominant force – but how much exactly does each player, from the ever-important Erling Haaland to Rico Lewis, earn on a weekly basis?

Goalkeepers

This summer has seen a lot of changes between Manchester City’s sticks. After performing in goal for Burnley, James Trafford returned to his boyhood club, while Ederson left. The 22-year-old Englishman apparently receives £48,500 each week in pay. However, whether he retains the number one slot is uncertain following a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 26-year-old Italian is regarded as one of the world’s top goalkeepers for a reason, and SalaryLeaks reports that he will make a stunning £200,000 per week – £50,000 more than his Liverpool counterpart, Alisson Becker.

Stefan Ortega, widely regarded as one of the top back-up goalkeepers in football today, has been trusted by the reigning champions on this occasion. Despite just playing a few games last season, the £90,000-per-week earner appears to have earned the trust of Guardiola and his entourage.

Scott Carson, the club’s experienced goalkeeper, rounds up the four-man goalkeeping crew. Carson, 39, a four-cap England international, last played for the one-time Champions League winners in 2020/21 but still earns £30,000 per week.

Defenders

Given the wealth of defensive quality at Guardiola’s disposal, there are few guarantees. The closest thing this season has been Josko Gvardiol, who earns £200,000 a week and can play at centre-back or on the left in a four-man defensive formation.

Only John Stones, 31, makes more per week than the aforementioned Croatian. The seasoned Englishman, who can play in midfield and offer steel to the middle of the pitch, is under contract until the summer of 2026 and earns £250,000 per week.

Manuel Akanji and Ruben Dias, who are regarded as two of the top centre-backs in the Premier League right now, make £180,000 each week in Manchester’s east. Nathan Ake signed a new deal in the summer of 2023 for £160,000 per week until June 2027, demonstrating the Dutchman’s value to Guardiola.

Rico Lewis, who was once considered as Kyle Walker’s natural right-back replacement, is paid substantially less at £25,000 per week, and his future at the club is uncertain. Rayan Ait Nouri, the summer addition, earns £80,000 per week; Vitor Reis earns half that much; and Adbukodir Khusanov earns a quarter of that amount, or £20,000 a week.

Coming through the academy levels at the moment, 22-year-old Josh Wilson-Esbrand – who made his senior debut in September 2021 – earns £7,000 a week, which is significantly less than his teammates.

Midfielders

Last season, Manchester City did not perform as well as planned, which can be ascribed in large part to Rodri’s absence. Spain’s Euro 2024 fulcrum, who recently won the 2024 Ballon d’Or, is undoubtedly deserving of his weekly salary of £220,000. In reality, the Spaniard is the club’s fourth-highest paid midfielder.

Bernardo Silva, who gets £300,000 per week, is the club’s highest-paid player in the engine room, followed by Ilkay Gundogan, who earns £230,000 per week.

The German gets the same as Tijjani Reijnders, whose Premier League debut sparked global interest. After joining from AC Milan, the Dutchman has yet to demonstrate that he is worth Guardiola and Co.’s £230,000-per-week investment.

Mateo Kovacic has served as the engine room’s mature leader since Rodri suffered an ACL injury, but he has yet to pull up trees and demonstrate to Guardiola that he is a worthy starter. Nonetheless, the 31-year-old still earns £150,000 every week.

That is £20,000 more than former Wolverhampton Wanderers player Matheus Nunes. The 26-year-old, a central midfielder by trade, frequently played in a makeshift back line for Guardiola last season.

Kalvin Phillips is back on City’s books following a disastrous loan spell with Ipswich Town last season. The 31-cap England international’s career never took off after moving from hometown club Leeds United, yet he still earns £150,000 a week despite spending the most of his time on the bench.

Forwards

After signing a new nine-and-a-half-year contract with the club until 2034, Haaland is currently the Premier League’s highest earner at £525,000 per week. The enigmatic Norwegian, 24, has shattered numerous goal-scoring records, and as long as he remains fit, he is just going to get better.

While Haaland, who was born in Leeds, has made back his pay with his ability in front of goal, this is not true for every player. Phil Foden, an academy product, was named Premier League Player of the Season in 2023/24, proving that his £225,000-per-week salary is well-deserved. But, given his terrible season in 2024/25, that reasoning is incorrect.

Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush is likewise well compensated following his January transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt. The blazing Egyptian, who sees £295,000 enter his bank account weekly, is the ideal foil for the aforementioned Haaland in terms of style.

Manchester City have spent the previous few years investing in two tricky, explosive wingers: Jeremy Doku and Savio. The latter makes £40,000 per week at the Etihad Stadium, and the former earns £50,000. That’s far less than Rayan Cherki, who signed a five-year contract at £140,000 per week in the summer.

Doku is paid the same as promising kid Oscar Bobb, who earns £50,000 a week. That might increase enormously in the coming years, and his impact will expand with age.
