Isak will get a medical on Monday.
Alexander Isak is on the verge of making Premier League history after Liverpool agreed to sign the Swedish international from Newcastle for a British record sum.
The biggest saga of the summer took until deadline day to resolve, but late on Sunday night, it was widely reported that Isak will have a physical on Monday ahead of a £130 million sale.
For weeks, the 25-year-old has been determined to join Arne Slot’s team, even refusing to play for Newcastle in an attempt to force a transfer.
Liverpool had an offer of about £110 million rejected for Isak, but the Merseyside club was always expected to make a second proposal before the transfer market closed at 7 p.m. on September 1.
And they’ve done just that, testing Newcastle’s commitment with a £130 million offer due to solidarity payments, according to The Athletic.

Liverpool, meanwhile, is likely to pay £125 million, a Premier League transfer record that will surpass Enzo Fernández’s £106 million move from Benfica to Chelsea in 2023.
It appeared that Newcastle would not sell unless they could recruit more attacking reinforcements, but last week they signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for £69 million.
Isak declared his wish to quit Newcastle this summer and was quickly excluded from their pre-season plans.
Things quickly became heated when the Swede released a statement saying Newcastle had “broken promises” to let him leave. However, the club promptly disputed that an arrangement was in place to allow Isak leave, with Eddie Howe maintaining that he wanted to keep the player.
Ahead of Newcastle’s Premier League match against Liverpool last week, Isak discussed his future at St James’ Park with a Public Investment Fund delegation, which included Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben.
Here, he reiterated his intention to join Liverpool.
Liverpool were thought to be waiting for Newcastle’s board’s approval before advancing, and with hours till the window closes, it looks they are on the approach of securing their player.
So far, the club has spent more than £300 million on the acquisitions of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, with Isak’s arrival set to push the total above £400 million.
How will Liverpool’s lineup evolve in the next weeks?
With only hours left in the transfer window, Liverpool is also being connected with Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.
If they reach an agreement, which might be around £35 million plus add-ons, Arne Slot will be able to field perhaps one of the strongest lineups in recent Premier League history.
