Man Utd ‘planning’ swap deal to sign Emi Martinez from Aston Villa that will benefit both clubs

Manchester United has Emiliano Martinez on their radar ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

Manchester United are looking at Emiliano Martinez ahead of the transfer deadline and may include a player in a surprise swap deal.

This summer, Manchester United strengthened their attacking options by signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.

The trio cost roughly £200 million, with Ruben Amorim looking for more acquisitions before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Amorim is determined to add a goalkeeper to his roster after the disappointing performances of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, who have started Man United’s first three Premier League games.

Onana, meanwhile, started Man United’s surprise Carabao Cup loss to Grimsby on Wednesday and failed to impress in goal.

Senne Lammens is a target for Manchester United, with Royal Antwerp willing to sell him for £20 million.

Amorim has considered Aston Villa’s Martínez as a backup goalkeeper, in addition to Lammens.

Martinez has been with Villa since the summer of 2020, but his future appears to be away from Villa Park.

He has been the subject of extensive transfer speculation.

According to the Telegraph, a deal for Martinez is ‘likely to be complex’, with the report stating Jadon Sancho might go the other way, as discussed during informal negotiations.

Manchester United are trying to offload Sancho this summer.

Sancho has been linked with a transfer away from Old Trafford this summer but has yet to leave the club.

It looks that the Red Devils would be willing to offer Sancho to Villa as part of any deal to sign Martinez.

Villa are no strangers to adopting Manchester United’s exiles, having signed Marcus Rashford on loan for the second half of last season.

Rashford made 17 appearances for Villa across all competitions, impressing in the Champions League.

Unai Emery could have the opportunity to restart the career of another Manchester United forward if they sign Sancho before tomorrow’s deadline.

Villa were very quiet during the summer transfer window, so the prospective signing of Sancho would strengthen Emery’s offensive options this season.

Despite his achievements at Manchester United, Sancho is undoubtedly a talented player who previously shone in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.

He spent the season on loan with Chelsea, where he scored five goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.
