Ruben Amorim is under increasing pressure at Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho has previously expressed his sentiments about leading Manchester United for the second time, despite the Red Devils’ troubles under Ruben Amorim.
This week, Amorim faced increased pressure as United were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby Town.
During a terrible night for Amorim’s men, Bryan Mbeumo missed a critical penalty, and Grimsby won the shootout 12-11.
As a result, pressure is mounting on Amorim, who appeared despondent following United’s Carabao Cup defeat.
According to The Guardian, the former Sporting Clube de Portugal head coach’s tactics and man-management abilities are being questioned by several in the United dressing room.
Furthermore, there have been reports that the 40-year-old is considering resigning.

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was fired by Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce on Friday morning, adding gasoline to the already-burning flames.
The decision came after Fenerbahce was eliminated from the Champions League by Portuguese club Benfica, which won 1-0 on aggregate following two matches.
A statement from the club read: “Our Professional Football First Team’s technical director, Jose Mourinho, who has been with us since the 2024-2025 season, has parted company with us. We appreciate his contributions to our team up to this point and wish him continued luck in his future endeavors.”
Mourinho, who managed United from 2016 to 2018, will be one of the names connected with the club following his dismissal.
Mourinho led Manchester United to a best Premier League result of second place while also winning the League Cup and the Europa League.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, the Portuguese manager has remained one of United’s most successful.
In May 2024, it was reported that Mourinho might be willing to return to the Red Devils.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 62-year-old ‘told confidants he would “walk” to Manchester to lead United for the second time’.
Mourinho managed 144 matches at United, winning 84, drawing 32, and losing 28, for a victory percentage of 58.33%.
