Jeremie Frimpong Injury: Expert Casts Verdict After Liverpool v Bournemouth

Liverpool’s 2025–26 Premier League campaign got off to a strong start on Friday night when they defeated Bournemouth at Anfield in a fierce match. When Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo gave the Reds a 2-0 lead, it appeared as though they would be winning easily.

With 15 minutes left in the game, Bournemouth rallied and Antoine Semenyo, who had reportedly been the target of racial taunts earlier in the game, scored a brace to tie the score.

However, Liverpool was unstoppable and launched their championship defense with a 4-2 victory, courtesy of late strikes from Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa, who scored his first Premier League goal since joining the team last summer.

Jeremie Frimpong leaves the game due to injury against Bournemouth

When Arne Slot decided to bench newcomer Jeremie Frimpong shortly before the hour, and replace him with Wataru Endo, eyebrows were aroused. Slot disclosed that the former Leverkusen defender suffered from a hamstring injury following the game. According to This Is Anfield, Slot provided the following explanation for the substitution on Sky Sports:

“It was not a luxury.” The reason for this was that Jeremie Frimpong made a lot of sprints after feeling his hamstring at halftime.

He was playing really well, but we don’t want to risk losing another full-back because Conor Bradley, the other right full-back, is already sidelined due to an injury.

“Then you could say, ‘Why don’t you play Joe Gomez there?’ but he couldn’t play for 30 minutes because he only had two preseason sessions, so we started with Wata.”

After the game, an injury expert has now provided their opinion on Frimpong’s potential length of absence. Based on Slot’s remarks, X user @physioscout believes Frimpong will be absent for less than a week, but if it turns out to be more serious than initially thought, he might miss up to four weeks.

“Jeremie Frimpong left the game in the 60th minute due to a hamstring injury,” they wrote. He “felt his hamstring a bit,” Slot continued.

“Usually, this causes either a slight hamstring strain or tightness in the hamstrings, with tightness being the more common effect. Possible Recuperation Duration: If you have tight hamstrings:

When Liverpool plays Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Monday, August 25, they will be hopeful Frimpong will be well enough to play.
