Eberechi Eze ‘chooses’ which Premier League club he wants to join amid Arsenal and Spurs interest

North London rivals are slugging it out for Crystal Palace’s FA Cup hero, and a new update has revealed Eze’s preference

Arsenal and Tottenham are both vying for the services of Crystal Palace legend Eberechi Eze, hoping to bring the England international to north London.

Eze etched his name into Palace history by scoring the winning goal in the Eagles’ FA Cup victory over Manchester City in May.

The 27-year-old was also a member of Palace’s Community Shield-winning squad, who rallied from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Oliver Glasner’s side won further trophy after defeating the Reds 3-2 on penalties, despite Eze missed one of Palace’s spot kicks.

Nonetheless, Eze is in high demand this summer, and while Arsenal were thought to be the frontrunners for the Palace player, Spurs have rekindled their interest in the creative sensation.

Spurs were connected with Eze earlier this year but cooled their interest, leaving Arsenal with an opportunity to steal a march on the Europa League winners.

Thomas Frank’s side did look to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, but the deal fell through due to Nottingham Forest’s threat of legal action, despite Spurs triggering the player’s release clause.

Spurs renew interest in Eze following Maddison’s departure.
However, Spurs were handed a harsh setback in pre-season when James Maddison sustained a catastrophic ACL injury in a 1-1 draw against Newcastle.

Spurs are reportedly making a bid for Eze as they try to add a number 10 to the squad, following Dejan Kulusevski’s extended absence following patella surgery earlier this year and the inability to sign Gibbs-White.

Eze now has a £68 million release clause in his contract, which, contrary to prior claims, expires on Friday (August 15).

Neither side is willing to match that provision in Eze’s contract, with Arsenal needing to sell players before they can confirm their interest in the Palace hero, despite spending heavily to strengthen their assault with the acquisitions of Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke.

The Gunners are hunting for potential buyers for Leandro Trossard, but a lack of interest in the Belgian has allowed Spurs to seize the opportunity.

Arsenal is the Palace star’s favoured destination.
Nonetheless, Spurs are believed to be trailing Arsenal in the hunt for Eze, with the Guardian suggesting that the Emirates is the player’s first destination if he leaves Selhurst Park.

Eze, after all, progressed through Arsenal’s system before leaving at the age of thirteen.

A new update from trade guru Fabrizio Romano, however, claims that Eze is also “keen” on a move to Tottenham.

“Eberechi Eze, keen on Tottenham move as Palace are informed of his desire to play Champions League football,” Fab said on his X account.

“Deal now depends on club to club talks but Spurs are seriously working on it, as reported earlier.”

Palace, who lost their CAS appeal against relegation to the UEFA Conference League on Monday, may be obliged to make a number of high-profile transactions between now and the transfer deadline of September 1st.

Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton, and Eze are among players linked with leaving Selhurst Park this summer.
