Mikel Arteta immediately demands two more signings after Arsenal lose to Villarreal

Even though Arsenal signed six new players this summer, Mikel Arteta seems to still want two more additions.

Although Mikel Arteta has added six new players to Arsenal’s roster this summer, rumours indicate that the manager still wants two more before the transfer market closes.

Going into the 2025–2026 season, Arsenal has spent about £200 million on new players after finishing third for three straight seasons.

Viktor Gyokeres, a striker for £55 million, was acquired by the North London team, which has also added Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga to their roster.

On Wednesday night, all six of the new players played in Arsenal’s 3-2 friendly loss to Villarreal, which also included a penalty shootout loss.

However, it looks like Arsenal hasn’t finished their summer business yet. According to a recent report from The Times, which evaluates the status of every Premier League team, Arteta is still looking for a creative midfielder and a direct left winger. They are reportedly planning to contact Crystal Palace regarding Eberechi Eze, whose £68 million release clause expires last Friday, two weeks before the start of the new Premier League season.

With two years left on Eze’s contract at Selhurst Park, Arsenal is hoping to get the England international for a reduced price and thinks they have a decent chance of doing so before the end of the transfer window.

In addition, they continue to keep an eye on Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, as Arsenal awaits word on the Brazilian’s availability for a loan.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain may make another move for Rodrygo based on what transpires with Bradley Barcola, while Liverpool is also keeping an eye on him as well.

In addition to Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson, Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos, Kieran Tierney, Jorginho, Thomas Partey, and Takehiro Tomiyasu have also left the Emirates Stadium.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Leandro Trossard are among the players rumoured to be available for transfer if the right bids come up, so the clear-out may go on.

On Saturday, Arsenal plays Athletic Club in their last preseason match. On Sunday, August 17, they visit Old Trafford to meet Arsenal in the season opener.
