Footage Emerges of Liverpool Star Waving ‘Farewell’ to Anfield Amid Transfer Links

Darwin Nunez appears to have bid farewell to Liverpool supporters, and he is not alone in making his way to the Anfield exit.

In what might be his final game as a Red, the Uruguayan striker started Monday night (August 4) in a 4-1 preseason friendly victory over Athletic Bilbao. Due to connections to the Saudi Pro League, where teams are rumoured to be willing to pay the club’s £60 million asking price, his future is becoming more and more uncertain.

The 26-year-old was substituted in one of Liverpool and Bilbao’s two friendly, seemingly saying goodbye to the Kop. The recently crowned champions have had a busy summer, and he is not the only first-team player who seems to be hinting at a departure.

Harvey Elliott Also Made a Hint About Leaving Liverpool
The Reds forward was spotted cheering the Anfield crowd.

Harvey Elliott, whose future appears to be outside of Merseyside, was reportedly the final player to leave the pitch at Anfield on Monday. With only two league starts last season, the English forward has struggled for playing time under Arne Slot.

Videos showing the 22-year-old, who scored in the victory, seeming to give supporters one final round of applause as a Liverpool player have been shared by fans. One person wrote:

“It was wonderful to see Harvey Elliott score last night. He applauded every area of Anfield as he was the last to exit the pitch. Being a top team can sometimes result in the loss of talented players like Elliott due to intense competition rather than a lack of skill. He is a gem for whoever signs him.

After the game, a different fan shared a video of the English offensive midfielder’s activities. He would be the most recent well-known player to leave Anfield after Luis Diaz joined Bayern Munich last week.

When Liverpool made a club-record £116 million move to acquire Florian Wirtz, Elliott’s playing time was in doubt. After recuperating from a broken foot, he had previously struggled to get it into Slot’s starting lineup the previous season.

The midfielder, who was born in London, competed in the U21 European Championships with England’s U21 squad during the first half of the summer. For Lee Carsley’s Young Lions, who successfully defended their title, he was an exceptional player.

Who Might Elliott of Liverpool Join?

This summer, Elliott has drawn a lot of interest because it is anticipated that he would leave the Merseyside team before the window ends on September 1. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, RB Leipzig has contacted him about a possible trade, suggesting that a move to Germany may be imminent.

One English team that has been mentioned is Tottenham Hotspur, which is rebuilding under new manager Thomas Frank. James Maddison will not play for the Spurs this weekend after suffering a terrible injury during preseason.

Daniel Levy may have to look for a new attacking midfield player as a result, and the former Fulham youth star is a good fit. In his special GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Elliott’s future:

“It will be entertaining to watch. Three to four clubs are interested in Elliott, and he is weighing his choices.

Elliott’s remarks about his circumstances (via The Mirror) echoed that report:

“I need to assess the situation and speak with everyone. Naturally, a lot of new people have joined, so I’m not sure if it will hinder my progress. I need to consider it and make a decision. Just review the situation, like I mentioned.

Elliott may prioritise staying in the Premier League because he wants to be a part of Thomas Tuchel’s England team for the World Cup next year. According to reports, the Reds have set a price tag of around £40 million on their versatile midfield player, who still has two years left on his contract.
