Throughout the summer, the RB Leipzig forward has been connected to both Newcastle and Manchester United.

The alleged “test” that players must pass before Manchester United shows interest in them was previously disclosed by Ruben Amorim.

Amorim, 40, has been somewhat outspoken during the preseason, which saw Manchester United win the US Premier League Summer Series with victories over Everton, West Ham United, and Bournemouth.

Additionally, the Portuguese recently said that he knew his team may struggle going into games during the 2024–2025 season.

“To tell you the truth, it’s not how I returned to my house after the games, it was how I left to go to the games, because I felt that sometimes we will struggle,” Amorim told the BBC this week.

“I had already experienced all of our game-related difficulties. The hardest thing was that.

“To go to the games and know that we are not going to be competitive – I was really frustrated.”

After losing to Spurs in the Europa League final last season and finishing 15th in the Premier League, United will undoubtedly be looking to better this year.

The Red Devils should benefit from the acquisitions of Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha. Benjamin Sesko, a striker for RB Leipzig, has also been linked to a move to Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old Sesko has recently been connected to both Newcastle and Manchester United. The player has informed both teams that they are his top choice, according to German publication BILD.

The Magpies made a revised offer of €80 million on Monday, according to The Athletic, after first offering €75 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

The site then revealed on Tuesday that Man United had made a bid of €75 million + €10 million for Sesko, and the Bundesliga team had not yet replied to the Premier League club’s offer.

Where Sesko will play football next season is still up in the air, but it is likely that he has passed a new test that Amorim has set for him at United.

The United manager has reportedly implemented a new “vetting process” for players before to transfers, according to recent statements.

“It is a key point in our way of doing things now,” Amorim announced in a recent press conference in Chicago.

It’s more than just their style of play. Naturally, their performance is crucial because that is their profession, but their character is even more significant.

Before bringing people into our group, we spent a great deal of time getting to know them and having conversations with everyone. That will be a must and a major factor in our choice to sign a player.
