David Ornstein: Man Utd Table First Offer to Sign Sesko After Newcastle Bid

According to BILD and David Ornstein, Manchester United has made its first move to recruit Benjamin Sesko, a striker for RB Leipzig, matching Newcastle United’s most recent offer.

Throughout the summer transfer window, Sesko’s story has continued, and it seems inevitable that he will leave Leipzig. A move to the Premier League may be imminent following an outstanding stint in the Bundesliga, as Manchester United and Newcastle are vying for his services.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Alexander Isak’s future—he has been strongly linked to a move to Liverpool—Newcastle is looking to add a striker. Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have been feigning deceit since arriving at Old Trafford, and Ruben Amorim’s team is currently searching for another center-forward.

According to BILD, Manchester United has matched Newcastle’s initial offer of €85 million, including add-ons, to capture Sesko. Leipzig is in a strong position given that two teams are fighting for Sesko’s services, though it’s unclear if he has decided who he wants to join.

The report was later confirmed by David Ornstein, who also noted that Leipzig had not yet responded. Ornstein claims that Sesko is in favour of moving to Old Trafford, but Newcastle is trying to finalise a deal.

It will be a little more difficult for the Slovenian striker to decide because both teams are probably going to be able to give Sesko a starting position. Although Newcastle offers European football, given some of the salaries they’ve provided recently, Manchester United might be able to offer him a better financial package.
