Man Utd fans react to Bryan Mbeumo’s performance on debut vs Everton as Ruben Amorim gives honest verdict

In Atlanta, Mbuemo played for United.

As the Reds wrapped up their summer tour of the United States with a match against Everton, Bryan Mbuemo made his eagerly anticipated Manchester United debut. Fans are responding to his performance in Atlanta.

Following a few training sessions with his new teammates, Mbuemo was given his first United shirt start on Sunday afternoon, joining Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha in Ruben Amorim’s redesigned forward line.

The 25-year-old, who finished the previous season with 20 goals and seven assists in 38 Premier League games for Brentford, was expected to do well.

And he provided a first-time pass to Amad, who subsequently won a penalty in the 19th minute that Bruno Fernandes scored, helping United score their first goal at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

As can be seen here, Mbuemo nearly opened the scoring in the first half but had two consecutive attempts stopped as he proceeded to show off his amazing link-up play with Fernandes.

In his candid post-match evaluation, Ruben Amorim noted that the Cameroon international was replaced at halftime as he continues to improve his fitness after starting preseason training late.

“He performed admirably,” Amorim remarked. “He must comprehend the posture, the motions, but also the fact that a single touch may establish a connection and create a lot of space. As you can see, his physical condition isn’t the best, yet he can stretch a squad because of how many runs he makes.

“He is going to be really important to our team,” the Portuguese coach continued.

These are the social media reactions of Mbuemo’s Sunday performance.

“Some of his link up was very strong,” one person wrote, while another observed, “His one touch plays are elite, but he’s being wasted in that #9 position.”

“Funny enough, Mbuemo is exactly what I expected him to be,” a third person wrote. Even though it was only his debut, I already feel like I know him from six games. He and Cunha make excellent additions.

“Good player, but obviously not fit enough,” remarked a fourth. “Give him some time,” a fifth person said, adding, “Oh my god, we finally signed a good player and not a project.”

Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes’ goals secured United’s top spot in the group after victories against West Ham and Bournemouth, and they collected the Premier League Summer Series trophy on Sunday after a 2-2 draw with Everton.

They will play Serie A team Fiorentina on Saturday to wrap up their preseason preparations before facing Arsenal in their Premier League debut on August 17.
