Summary
Despite lavish expenditure, defending champions Liverpool are unlikely to win the Premier League title in 2025-26.
Relegated teams may struggle to regain their footing, with promoted Leeds, Burnley, and Sunderland all facing hurdles.
Manchester United, led by Ruben Amorim, are expected to improve after their worst Premier League season to date.
As the new season approaches, a supercomputer has forecasted the Premier League table for 2025-26. Last season, everyone expected Manchester City to rule the roost again, but it was Liverpool, under new manager Arne Slot, who won their 20th English league title at a canter, restoring their position as the country’s most successful team.
There were no bonus points awarded to those who predicted Arsenal would come second – they have already done so three years in a row – while Pep Guardiola’s team finished just about third. Other tales included Nottingham Forest’s surprising run to European qualifying, while Tottenham and Manchester United had their worst league seasons since the 1992 rebranding.
Even though the aforementioned is still vivid in the mind, football never sleeps, and forecasts for the forthcoming season have already been made. According to a story from The Mirror, a supercomputer has generated the forecasts below by simulating the league season using the publicly available fixture list. Without further ado, let’s examine the 2025–2026 Premier League season’s expected winners and losers.
Zone of Relegation
All three of the promoted teams are predicted to drop right back down.
It is predicted that a troubling trend at the bottom of the standings will persist in the upcoming season. The three promoted teams all immediately fell back to earth in 2024–2025, and if the Supercomputer is right, Leeds United, Burnley, and Sunderland may follow suit.
The predictions do, however, indicate that this trio will at least fight harder than they did during the hair-tearing campaign of the previous season. Despite having 12 more points than Southampton did the previous season, Leeds United is predicted to finish last. Although Sunderland is predicted to finish in 19th place, they are still 10 points ahead of Ipswich Town. Burnley, who finished the season with 35 points, 10 more than Leicester City, will also miss out on survival.

Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth in the bottom half barely escape relegation.
With an eighth-place finish the previous season, Brighton & Hove Albion secured European football under manager Fabian Hurzeler. The supercomputer has them in 11th place, just outside the top half, so it is not expected to be as successful this time. The same is true for Wolverhampton Wanderers, led by Vitor Pereira, who do not have Matheus Cunha.
Although losing the lucky Brazilian will be bad, they should improve on their 16th-place performance from the previous season. The Black Country team is expected to finish in 12th place this season, one spot ahead of Brentford. The capital club enters the new season without Thomas Frank in charge, but the Bees have suffered a minor setback as a result of the fixture list’s release.
A predicted 14th-place finish under Marco Silva is also unlikely to excite Fulham supporters, who were ranked as among of the Premier League’s most deceived by a recent research. This might go backwards and possibly emphasise the necessity to keep top players.
It is anticipated that Crystal Palace would also regress as the English top flight becomes more challenging. Supporters of the Selhurst Park team will be hoping for great things in the 2025–26 season after winning the FA Cup, but the Supercomputer predicts a 15th-place finish, three spots worse than where they finished the previous season.
Due to the departure of Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen, Andoni Iraola’s excellent first season as manager of Bournemouth is expected to drop from ninth to sixteenth place. Given their lengthy history of alternating between the Premier League and the Championship, the Cherries are expected to reach the 43-point level, which is still a respectable result.
A predicted 17th-place finish next season will probably act as a reality check as Nottingham Forest attempts to balance European football with local responsibilities, despite being the 2024–25 season’s surprise package. As expected, keeping Morgan Gibbs-White on for another season doesn’t pay off because they barely get it out of the drop zone.

The Upper Half
The Europa League finalists from the previous season, Manchester United and Tottenham, are included.
It’s doubtful that Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will stay in his position if the Red Devils have a season like 2025–2026. Amorim is already under a lot of stress. However, the Supercomputer predicts that they will place just outside of the top four. They should gain 34 more points than they did the previous season, which would be a significant improvement.
The Supercomputer predicts that Aston Villa, one of two teams making a strong push for the “new big six” status, would finish sixth in the Champions League rather than restore their spot. That puts them one spot ahead of Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur, the defending Europa League champions going into the next campaign.
After a disorganised summer, Spurs are clearly hoping to place in the top four under their new manager, but the Supercomputer predicts they’ll end up with 67 points. The Eddie Howe project is likewise not planning to go on another Champions League journey. Under his ultra-wealthy hierarchy, the Englishman is demonstrating that patience is a virtue, but the Premier League’s intensity might be too much.
Newcastle United’s eighth-place performance may mean they keep their spot in European play, albeit at a lower level, in light of Alexander Isak’s possible exit. Additionally, the London Stadium has improved (at last!). When West Ham United reaches 60 points in the upcoming season, they are predicted to jump five spots to ninth place.
Everton supporters will be quite happy with their anticipated finish. The team wants to turn around the Toffees’ fortunes, especially with their stadium move coming amid David Moyes’ spectacular comeback. The Supercomputer predicts a 10th-place finish, which is three spots and eight points better than their domestic performance from the previous season.

Top Four: Man City emerges victorious, Arsenal falters
A supercomputer that forecasted a near-perfect replica of this season’s top three has not backed Liverpool to win the Premier League again. As previously stated, Slot’s team won the championship at their own speed the last time out, but Manchester City is expected to win the title again in what may be Pep Guardiola’s final game.
“Even without any seismic squad changes, their machine-like system – powered by Omar Marmoush, Phil Foden, the returning Rodri, and a 36-goal season from Erling Haaland – keeps them dominant.”
The reigning champions’ early transfer activity, which included Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez following the Dutchman to Anfield and Jeremie Frimpong replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold, is expected to be insufficient despite the additions. However, if they are successful in obtaining Isak’s assistance, that might change.
“With Mo Salah and new additions Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz, Arne Slot’s reconstructed team will have a strong offensive line. However, when facing elite teams, their defence will falter, dropping them to third place in the fight for the championship.
Compared to Liverpool’s 10-point lead at the top last season, the gap at the top is predicted to close to only four points. Arsenal’s run as runners-up is anticipated to continue in the meantime. Mikel Arteta may have to pay a high price for this, particularly if the Gunners lose and Sweden’s Viktor Gyokeres leads his attack.
Chelsea, led by Enzo Maresca, finish fourth. They were crowned the ‘Champions of the World’ at the start of the new season after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final. The Blues are anticipated to finish 2025–2026 with a points total of 79, six points behind third-place Liverpool, and will stutter into the top four, earning Champions League football in the process.
