Major bombshell dropped on Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike saga as club pull out of move and target striker nobody has mentioned yet

Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak appeared to be part of a significant transfer whirlpool this summer, but a recent development alters everything.

The dynamics of Liverpool and Newcastle’s summer transactions have changed due to a significant update on the Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak story.

Premier League winners Liverpool were getting ready to formally approach Newcastle over a club record bid for Isak, according to a report earlier this week by Fabrizio Romano.

The Swede, who finished the previous season with 23 goals in the Premier League, was considered Liverpool’s top striker target and would need an offer of at least £120 million.

Given Isak’s uncertain future, Newcastle had been considering a move for Ekitike, a striker for Eintracht Frankfurt who is also being pursued by Liverpool.

However, David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano both stated Thursday morning that the Magpies had lost interest in the Frenchman and that the deal was off.

Ornstein stated in The Athletic that Newcastle has now focused on Brentford striker Yoane Wissa after their £69.3 million proposal was rejected, and they are anticipated to get in touch with the Bees to discuss a possible transfer.

Nottingham Forest made a failed attempt to sign Wissa, a DR Congo international who scored 19 goals in 35 appearances the previous season.

Given rumors that Liverpool has discussed bringing in Ekitike with Frankfurt, the most recent development would suggest that their chase of Isak has failed.

With 22 goals last season, the former Paris Saint-Germain player has emerged as one of the world’s most attractive striking assets.

The status of Bryan Mbeumo at Man United may be crucial.
The outcome involving Wissa’s strike partner Bryan Mbeumo might continue the transfer whirlwind.

United hopes to get Mbeumo as their second summer acquisition, but their approach hasn’t worked out so far; a proposal of £60 million was reportedly turned down.

United’s attempts have “stalled” despite the former Lorient player telling the team he wants to join, according to The Guardian.

Brentford’s valuation is closer to £70 million, which has caused “resistance” from Old Trafford officials who do not want to “be held to ransom.” United had hoped to complete a transaction for £65 million.

United has only acquired Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million ahead of an impending preseason trip of the United States, and they are having trouble moving players like Tyrell Malacia, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho.
