This summer, the Brazilian is expected to depart Old Trafford.
After two Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, expressed interest in the wanted Brazilian, Manchester United reportedly raised their asking price for Antony.
The 25-year-old winger is presently training apart from the rest of the United team because several clubs are still interested in signing him. He is not included in Ruben Amorim’s plans for the upcoming season.
After signing a six-month loan agreement with Real Betis in January, Antony helped Manuel Pellegrini’s team go to the Conference League final against Chelsea with nine goals and five assists.
Numerous teams, led by former manager Erik ten Hag, are reportedly interested, including Villarreal, Atletico Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen.
Although the price is still a huge stumbling block, the former Ajax winger seems to prefer a permanent move to Real Betis, with publications in Spain recently calling United’s valuation “exorbitant.”
After Antony’s successful loan stint at Betis, the Spanish daily El Chiringuito reported in May that United was requesting between £34 million and £42 million for him.
However, following interest from ‘at least three European leagues’, including Spain (Real Betis), England (Brighton and Newcastle), and Germany (RB Leipzig and Leverkusen), it now seems the club has increased their valuation.
According to reputable Brazilian publication UOL, Antony is internally valued at around £50 million (€58 million).
The article also states that the Brazilian, who is highly prized on the market due to his excellent play while on loan at Betis last season, is not in a haste to make a decision about his future. He wants the club transition to be done with conviction and confidence above all else.
Given that United must earn £32.58 million to avoid a loss on Antony under the Premier League’s sustainability and profitability rules, Antony is willing to accept a 30% pay drop in order to permanently quit the team this summer.
At Old Trafford, he presently makes about £150,000 per week.
Since signing United from Ajax in September 2022 for an estimated £86 million, the winger has struggled. He has made 96 appearances for the Reds, tallying 12 goals and five assists overall.
