Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva killed in a car accident on Thursday.
According to speculations, Mo Salah will cut short his trip following the death of Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota.
Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva were killed in a car incident early Thursday (July 3).
The Liverpool player and his brother were driving in a Lamborghini that caught fire while overtaking another vehicle in northwestern Spain.
The Guardia Civil reported that the pair died at 00:30 on Thursday. Tributes flowed in from Jota’s previous colleagues and clubs, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Jamie Carragher, and Jurgen Klopp all paying respect on social media.
When discussing Jota, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot used the terms “hard work, desire, commitment, great quality, goals” and stated that his thoughts were with the player’s family.
Stefan Bacjetic, a Spanish midfielder, was the first Liverpool player to respond to the news, posting on his Instagram story.
He wrote, “You will be remembered, my friend.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Salah also issued heartfelt messages on Thursday.
Van Dijk wrote, “Man, I can’t believe it; I don’t want to accept it. Completely devastated and in astonishment. What a human being, a player, and, most importantly, what an incredible family man.
“You meant a lot to all of us, and you always will! It is inconceivable for your family to lose two sons, as well as a husband and father. So nasty and unfair. My heart breaks for your entire family, especially Rute and your children.
“I guarantee you that in these trying times and beyond, we will always be there for your family. A champion forever, and number 20 forever. It’s been an honour to stand by your side on the pitch and to be your buddy off it.
“We will miss you more than words and never forget you. We will make sure that your legacy lives on! Rest in perfect tranquilly, Diogo and André.”
According to Egypt-based outlet Yallakora, which was relayed by the Mail, Salah is apparently planning to return to the UK and cut short his holiday.
Salah, 33, has 150 appearances alongside Jota, the second most of any player after former Wolves and Portugal colleague Ruben Neves.
Liverpool will report for pre-season training on Tuesday before kicking off the season with a friendly against Preston at Deepdale on July 13.
