Cristiano Ronaldo has issued an emotional statement following the loss of his Portugal teammate and Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva killed in a car crash in Zamora, Spain, on Thursday.
The story was confirmed by local officials, including the Zamora Provincial Council.
A statement read: “Two young persons were killed in an accident on the A-52 (Palacios de Sanabria).
“The Rionegro del Puente Fire Station (Northern Zone of the @DiputacionZA Consortium) has responded.” The truck caught fire, and flames spread to the surrounding foliage.
“They were 28 and 26 years old.” RIP.”
Tributes from several of his former clubs, including Wolves, Porto, and Liverpool, have since been released.

The first Liverpool player to pay tribute was midfielder Stefan Bajcetic.
The Spaniard wrote on his Instagram story, “You will be remembered, my friend.”
Then, at 11:12 a.m. on Thursday, Ronaldo, 40, who was part of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League-winning team with Jota on June 8, issued an emotional remark on social media.
Ronaldo wrote, “It does not make logic. We were just together on the National Team, and you were married. I express my sympathies to your family, wife, and children, and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you’ll always be with them. Rest in peace, Diogo and André. “We’ll all miss you.”
