Williams has been a free agent since he left United last summer.
Former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has been linked with a return to football with a surprising team after an 18-month absence.
Williams was dismissed by United last summer, capping up a tenure with the club that lasted since 2008.
The 24-year-old had spent part of the previous season on loan at Championship club Ipswich Town, but he sustained an injury in December and returned to Old Trafford for treatment.
He was without a club for the entire season and was sentenced to 14 months in prison in May for hazardous driving, with a two-year suspension.
Williams, who was’showing off’ while driving with one female passenger, allegedly hit a Ford Fiesta before colliding into a central reservation in Wilmslow.
Three individuals in the Fiesta were injured, and Williams was taken to the hospital for treatment.
His defense attorney told the court that the 24-year-old was ‘genuinely remorseful’ and had to deal with serious mental health and neurological concerns. He ‘is in better form psychologically and physically right now’, it was said.
Williams stated in a statement after the verdict: “It was never my goal to injure anyone, but I am responsible for the standard of my driving and make no excuses. This incident has taught me a lesson, and I will not repeat it.”
According to a fresh source, the left-back is on the verge of making his professional football return.
According to the Daily Mail, he has discussed a move to Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas.
The Istanbul-based team is managed by former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who tutored Williams at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer has already signed four players this summer, including experienced midfielder Joao Mario from Benfica and former Chelsea sensation Tammy Abraham on loan from AC Milan.

The Norwegian is now looking for a new full-back after letting Arthur Masuaku leave on a free transfer.
Williams made the most of his United appearances at left-back, but he is also capable of playing right-back, where he was deployed at Ipswich by Kieran McKenna, whom he previously worked under at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen whether he can now go forward after more than 18 months of idleness.
