Days after Manchester United entered the fight to recruit him, one of Europe’s most sought-after players has gone viral after sharing a photo of himself sporting a Manchester United shirt.
So far, United’s summer has been a stop-start affair. The Reds were anticipated to act swiftly during the transfer window after concluding a deal to acquire Matheus Cunha from Wolves for an estimated £62.5 million.
United made an offer for Bryan Mbuemo earlier this month of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons, but it was not as high as Brentford wanted.
The Bees subsequently turned down an improved second bid of up to £62.5 million. Since then, Mbuemo has told the Bees that he has decided to join Ruben Amorim’s team if he moves this summer.
In addition to Mbuemo, Lyon winger Malick Fofana is among the attacking players United has recently been connected to.
According to a recent article in the French newspaper L’Equipe, United has shown interest in bringing the highly regarded Belgium international to Old Trafford.
After Lyon was relegated to the second division of France, Fofana, who scored 11 goals in all competitions for the team last season, is probably going to be among the first players to depart.
Additionally, the 20-year-old generated rumors on Sunday when he shared a photo of himself sporting a Manchester United shirt with the words “Rashford 10” printed on the back. In fact, despite persistent rumors, he wore the entire United uniform.
This is how social media supporters responded to Fofana’s choice to don the shirt.
“Full United kit is insane, come here bro,” one person said, while another said, “Sign this kid up man.”
“Nah bro, do you realize how much of a United supporter you must be to willingly wear that MONSTROSITY of a third kit?” a third person added. Take him to the theater.
“Tears got the shorts on too,” remarked a fourth, and “Bring and loan back,” wrote a fifth. Assists Lyon.

As the newly relegated Lyon team prepares to lose some of its top players, Chelsea and Liverpool are also being linked to a transfer for Fofana.
In addition to Coretin Tolisso, Moussa Niakhaté, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Perri, and Duje Caleta-Car leaving this summer, former Arsenal attacker Alexandre Lacazette might need to be sold at a discount in order to balance the books.
