Real Madrid has set a price for Rodrygo amid interest from Premier League clubs and has already decided on a successor.
Real recruited Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth and Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool ahead of the Club World Cup, with further acquisitions expected in the next season.
The club also want to downsize their roster, with Rodrygo linked with a surprising move away from the Bernabeu.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Tottenham have all indicated interest in signing the Brazilian international, with the Premier League considered the’most likely exit point’ for him.
According to Spanish broadcaster Cadena SER, Real will ask for roughly €90 million (£77 million), which is enough money for the club to sign a new midfielder.
Xabi Alonso wants to sign a midfielder for the 2025/26 season, and Martin Zubimendi is believed to be on his radar.
The potential sale of Rodrygo might help fund a search for a high-profile midfielder.
Real are aware of Arsenal’s interest, but the player prefers to pursue other possibilities, with Pep Guardiola rumoured to be keen in securing his services.
Cadena SER claims the 24-year-old is the ‘weak link’ in their attack, trailing Kylian Mbappe, Brahim Diaz, and Gonzalo Garcia, who scored in his team’s Club World Cup opener against Al Hilal.
Rodrygo joined Real in the summer of 2019 for £39 million and has scored 68 goals in all competitions for the club.
If he leaves the club this summer, Franco Mastantuono, who will join the Spanish giants on August 14, when he turns 18, after his release clause is implemented, might take his place.
Mastantuono is expected to challenge Lamine Yamal, with Alonso impressed by the Argentine starlet’s desire and maturity.
“We’re pleased for Franco because he’s a youngster with a terrific present and an incredible future. “His maturity extends beyond the pitch,” he observed. “I was impressed by our chats; by his desire and maturity. Things do not happen by chance. We’re following him at River Plate, where he’s making moves that will lead him to Real Madrid. “He’ll be extremely important.”
