Viktor Gyokeres spotted training with shock Premier League player in surprise twist to transfer saga

This summer, the Sporting striker has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester United, and other clubs.

Footage of in demand Sporting CP attacker Viktor Gyokeres was spotted training with a Premier League player online, sparking interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

Gyokeres, 27, has been linked with a move away from Sporting CP this summer, after scoring 54 goals in 52 games during the 2024/25 season.

Clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Al Hilal, and Manchester United have all been linked with a bid for the Sweden international, but Arsenal appears to be his most likely destination.

Just last week, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook said that the athlete had informed his friends and family that he wanted to join Arsenal.

“We know that Manchester United are interested in signing him as well, obviously, there is that pre-existing relationship with Ruben Amorim,” Crook went on.

“But Arsenal can offer Champions League football, maybe can offer a tilt at the title next season.”

This comes after Sporting CP Sporting Director, Frederico Varandas, stated that “Sporting will not accept” the alleged release clause cost of “60 million plus 10,” and that “As of today, Sporting has not received any proposal for Gyokeres,” despite previous contradictory reports.

“To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres – neither today nor last season,” Varandas stated on June 11.

In a June 14 update, journalist Fabrizio Romano also indicated that Gyokeres might join Arsenal.

However, Arsenal fans may be disappointed to learn who the 27-year-old has recently trained with.

Social media users shared footage of Gyokeres working with Spurs midfielder Lucas Bergvall and Aarhus FC’s Felix Beijmo.

According to the Portuguese newspaper Record, Gyokeres has been following a hard training schedule in preparation for the 2025/26 season.

Gyokeres’ prospective signing will most likely be affected by the issue with RB Leipzig attacker Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal has also been connected with the Slovenian striker, however it is uncertain whether both players would be signed during the same transfer window.

Romano provided an update on the situation through his GiveMeSport newsletter.

“No, Arsenal is not backing out of a deal for Sesko; Sesko and Gyokeres are both in talks at the moment. Romano wrote, “Let’s see what Arsenal decides.”

Sesko, 22, who is under contract with Leipzig until June 2029, is likely a more long-term possibility given his age, but Gyokeres is viewed as someone who must do well right immediately.
