Real Madrid fans have made their minds up on Trent Alexander-Arnold after what he did against Pachuca

Alexander-Arnold began his second Real Madrid encounter against a Liga MX team.

After witnessing Trent Alexander-Arnold play in the first half of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup match against Pachuca, people have formed an opinion about him.

Alexander-Arnold made his Los Blancos debut on Thursday against Al Hilal, only weeks after arriving from Liverpool.

Fans chastised him for his defensive performance, with Real in general unable to showcase their full attacking potential as they only managed a 1-1 tie.

Against Pachuca, Xabi Alonso’s team was reduced to ten players in seven minutes when last man Raul Asencio took down Salomon Rondon.

Real fans noticed how the right side of the pitch was open throughout the play, as Alexander-Arnold surged forward to support the attack.

However, on 43 minutes, the England international compensated by creating the opportunity for Arda Guler to score from close range.

On 36 minutes, Jude Bellingham put Real ahead 1-0, and Guler’s goal ensured Real had a comfortable lead going into the interval despite being down to ten men.

While supporters praised Alexander-Arnold’s attacking potential, defensive problems remain.

A member of the crowd commented: “We should not play high line like Barcelona… we will concede too many easy goals… and Trent can’t defend.”

A second concurred: “Trent cannot protect his back post as well. Defensively, they may be excessively vulnerable.”

A different individual responded: “That [pass for the goal], ladies and gentlemen, is why Real Madrid signed Trent.”

A fourth concurred: “That pass from Trent, phew.”

Speaking after the 1-1 draw against Al Hilal, Alonso reiterated his expectations for his new signing and how he wants him to fit into his system.

“He is a different full-back, not just from the outside lane,” he explained to reporters. “He can go inside for a little while and associate.

“What happens around us is vital. We need to improve on it, but having his understanding of the game is quite beneficial.”
