most recent Liverpool news as When Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid play in the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium, Jurgen Klopp will be present.
This evening’s Champions League final at Wembley Stadium will feature Jurgen Klopp in attendance.
It is official that Klopp is no longer the manager of Liverpool, having occupied the Anfield dugout for nearly nine years. Arne Slot, who assumed the position of head coach today, has taken over for the German.
The announcement that Klopp would step down as Reds manager at the end of the season was made in January. With the end of Liverpool’s season, Klopp will now pursue his next professional endeavor.
But it appears that at this year’s Champions League final, Klopp will be displaying his close relationship with one of his former employers. Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund will square off at Wembley Stadium.
After receiving an invitation from Dortmund, Klopp announced last month that he would be present for the match. After leading the Bundesliga team for seven years and leading them to two league titles, Klopp also oversaw Dortmund’s 2013 Champions League final, which was held at Wembley.
“I’ve received an invitation to the Champions League final,” Klopp declared on May 13 during one of his last interviews as manager of Liverpool. They said, ‘I don’t think he will come,’ but I will definitely attend—it’s the Champions League final, and I really don’t have anything to do!
“But I also need more tickets after that. For the first time in my life, I’m requesting tickets; usually, I’m the one who gets asked! It’s a very peculiar sensation. I never asked for tickets, and I never did. It feels really weird that I am asking now.
Aside from that, we had no plans for what would happen (if he leaves Liverpool).” We have tickets to a few games and will be watching games at the Euros. Nothing remarkable, just a long stay in Germany and making friends. Simply put, I’m laid back, I’m not planning a preseason, and I won’t be involved in any transfer negotiations, which is a huge difference. I’m eagerly anticipating it.”
