Florian Wirtz transfer saga takes shock new twist as Liverpool struggle to find Bayer Leverkusen agreement

Will Liverpool complete the Florian Wirtz deal?

The transfer saga surrounding Bayer Leverkusen player Florian Wirtz has taken a new turn as Liverpool battle to complete the deal.

Wirtz, 22, has dominated the headlines in recent weeks, with his future becoming the talk of the town.

After rejecting offers from Bayern Munich and Manchester City, Liverpool had a clear path to signing Wirtz.

Liverpool reportedly made a €130 million offer last week.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Liverpool have submitted an offer to buy Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for up to €130 million. This is an enhanced second bid, plus a top-end number that includes the fixed fee and any prospective add-ons. “22-year-old #Bayer04 playmaker wants to join #LFC @TheAthleticFC.”

However, according to German news agency BILD, Leverkusen is holding out for a sum of around €150 million.

Furthermore, Wirtz’s former club, FC Koln, may cause delays.

According to the report, Koln’s manager, Werner Wolf, has committed to fight for what he believes the club deserves.

According to FIFA rules, teams that contributed to a player’s development between the ages of 12 and 23 might get 5% of the transfer fee.

Wirtz was in Koln from the age of seven to sixteen, which means Koln may be due ‘training compensation’.

If Liverpool is willing to match Leverkusen’s €150 million asking price, Koln could wind up with €7.5 million.

Wolf told BILD, “Of course, we’re looking into it.” We understand what we are entitled to and will fight for it.

“We are looking at this through both eyes. We will gain from it. “The more Liverpool is willing to pay, the better for us.”

With the compensation sum now apparently being discussed, Leverkusen could use it to increase their asking price for Wirtz.

This could be bad news for Liverpool fans, because if the asking price is too high, the Reds may walk away from the transaction entirely.
