Arsenal fans have been astonished by Kai Havertz’s end-of-season metamorphosis, with the Germany international evidently working hard in the gym to return stronger than ever. The midfielder-turned-forward, who scored nine goals and assisted three times in 23 Premier League outings last season, lost over 100 days of the 2024/25 season with a hamstring injury.
Now it appears that Havertz is resolved not to let history repeat itself. He’s clearly been putting in extra effort behind the scenes, revealing a substantially stronger physique that has piqued the interest of many. The 25-year-old appears to be a completely different person – physically altered and eager to maintain his spot in Mikel Arteta’s future plans.

Before Arsenal’s final home game of the season, Arteta spoke in his pre-match interview about how impressed he was that Havertz had not only disproved the doctor’s predictions that he would be out for the season, but had also returned to training and first-team action after packing on a few pounds of muscle.
“He has undergone a physical metamorphosis. “The last three years of his career have been so hectic that he hasn’t had time to do that, and this has been a window that he really wanted to take advantage of,” he told the Daily Mail. Havertz has recently uploaded an Instagram story demonstrating how much bigger he has grown throughout his recovery period (see below).
“The staff emphasized how his body has the potential to reach a higher level. He agreed with that. You can see his presence, and I believe he obliterated all of the measurements that we had in the gym for the previous ten years.
“Each of them. He’s been phenomenal in terms of power, acceleration, muscle mass, and how he’s enhanced various capacities in his body, such as agility.”
Following the widespread spread of photographs of Kai Havertz’s physical change, Arsenal fans were quick to praise him. “Wow, he’s looking jacked,” one X user wrote, while another added, “This man is not fooling around. Gonna have a huge season in 2025-26.” Meanwhile, a third said, “What the hell?” while a fourth wrote:
“One thing you cannot take away from him is his desire to succeed at Arsenal. “Whatever it takes.”
Many questioned whether he could regain his greatest form after a confidence-shattering spell at Chelsea, where he only scored 32 goals in 139 appearances.
However, his enhanced physique, paired with his better goalscoring form, has given the Emirates faithful renewed hope that he still has an important role to play in Arteta’s plans, and any incoming striker will need to demonstrate the same degree of effort if they are to compete with the 25-year-old.
