Luis Enrique Asked to Name Best Team PSG Played in 24/25 Champions League

After crushing Inter Milan in Munich on Saturday night, Paris Saint-Germain was crowned Champions League winners for the first time in their history.

The French powerhouses were the clear favorites going into the game, and they delivered, destroying their opponents 5-0. Within 20 minutes, Luis Enrique’s team jumped out to a two-goal lead thanks to goals from Desire Doue and Achraf Hakimi.

PSG didn’t slow down in the second half, as more goals from Senny Mayulu, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Doue helped them win the championship in spectacular fashion.

Luis Enrique was asked to name the most formidable team PSG has faced this season.

On their path to Champions League victory, PSG defeated numerous formidable clubs. They played against teams like Manchester City, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich during the league stage. They defeated eliminated favorites Liverpool in the round of 16 in the knockout stages, then went on to play Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Inter Milan in the championship match.

Mikel Arteta expressed his opinion that his team had been the best in the competition following Arsenal’s loss to PSG in the semi-finals. “Unfortunately, we are out, but we were very close, much closer than the result showed,” he remarked.

“I am completely proud of the players.” We are eliminated, but based on my observations, I don’t believe there has been a greater squad [than Arsenal] in the competition.”

After the game, Enrique denied Arteta’s assertion, stating that his squad was better and should have advanced to the championship game. Does he, however, believe that the Gunners were PSG’s most formidable rivals this season?

Following PSG’s victory, the 55-year-old was asked to identify the most formidable opponent his squad has faced this season. According to the Daily Mail, he answered without mentioning Arsenal:

This season, we were put to the test in a few games. Liverpool, for instance, made things really challenging, particularly during transitions. One of the better-organized teams we faced was Aston Villa as well.

The season for PSG is not yet finished. In order to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, they will now go to the United States. Enrique takes the competition seriously and hopes to add the trophy to their accomplishments from the Trophee des Champions, Ligue 1, the Champions League, and the Coupe de France.

“I think it is an incredible competition,” he stated, according to the Independent. It may not be a first edition right now, but winning this title will become crucial. It’s amazing, in my opinion, that the world’s top teams will play each other every four years—not against national teams, but clubs.

“I suppose it would be the icing on the cake if we could end the season in style. This would be the sixth prize of the season if we are able to pull it off.”
