After easily winning the 2024–25 Premier League, Liverpool, led by Arne Slot, is expected to sign Jeremie Frimpong this summer despite the news of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure. However, the 24-year-old Dutchman will don a unique number on the Anfield shoreline.
Slot, who is regarded as one of the top managers in world football, and his team had to look for a new right-back after Alexander-Arnold announced he would be leaving his boyhood club after decades of service. This announcement has drawn a lot of criticism.
Despite their Champions League setback, the Reds have had a wonderful season, and the club’s management will be hoping to build on the Dutch tactician’s debut on Merseyside. And hiring Frimpong will undoubtedly do that.
Frimpong’s Odd Liverpool Number Is Out
Last worn at Anfield during the 2014–15 season
With just two games remaining in the 2024–25 season, Liverpool will host Crystal Palace on the final day as champions then visit to Brighton & Hove Albion’s home field on Monday night.
In any case, Frimpong, who is considered by many to be among the top right-backs in international football, will be joining them to bolster their defensive ranks. Ben Jacobs of GIVEMESPORT has disclosed that he plans to adopt an odd number.
The well-respected writer turned to X (previously Twitter) to notify supporters that Frimpong – who came through Manchester City’s system before establishing a name for himself at Celtic – will don the No.30 upon jumping from Germany to England. He wrote:
“Jeremie Frimpong has undertaken part one of his LFC medical. On Monday, he will finish it in preparation for a €35 million transfer. Recognise that Frimpong will be wearing No. 30.
Frimpong will be the first Liverpool player to wear that number on the back of their shirt in ten years. He has been playing for Bayer Leverkusen since the 2020–21 season. For those who don’t know, it was worn by the forgettable Suso in 2014–15.
Charles Itandje, who followed Daniele Padelli, wore it from 2007–08 to 2008–09 before to the Spanish winger. Boudewijn Zenden, Carl Medjani, Djimi Traore, Haukur Ingi Gudnason, and Tony Warner are among the other people who have worn it.

Frimpong, who was born in Amsterdam, has a long list of accomplishments to his name. He wore 12, 5, 14, and 71 while he was with Manchester City; the latter was his first number on Celtic’s books before switching to 30. The versatile Dutchman has worn 30 since relocating to Die Werkself.
