Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has apparently ‘made his mind’ on which club he wants to join this summer.
With 52 goals and 12 assists in 49 games during the 2024–25 season, Gyokeres, 26, is among the most prolific attackers in Europe.
As a result of his continuously strong performances, the Sweden international has been connected with numerous major clubs with Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain all apparently interested in signing the youngster.
The 26-year-old’s current deal is slated to expire in June 2026, and he might be available for a cost between £55-70m this summer.
Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta attempted to sign Gyokeres for Atletico Madrid, according to a story published by The Telegraph on Thursday, May 8. The Swede is thought to be a more “realistic option” than Alexander Isak of Newcastle, who the Magpies have insisted is not for sale this summer.
Sporting is anticipated to accept an offer that is less than his release clause, which is estimated to be between £63.5 and £72 million, according to the article.
Gyokeres’ choice will probably be influenced by whether Arsenal and Manchester United will play in the Champions League the following season. The Gunners are expected to qualify, while United can also do so by defeating Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on May 21.

Since Berta was hired back in April, Arteta, the head coach of Arsenal, has already stated that this summer is “going to be a big one.”
“It’s going to be a big one [summer], and we are very excited about it,” Arteta stated during a press conference.
“We want to improve the squad’s depth, as well as the caliber and abilities required to get to the next phase, when you go again.
“Every summer is significant because it presents an opportunity, particularly given the current roster’s size, which is essential.
“But it’s a big summer for many things because first of all, we have to maintain the good foundations that we have and then obviously, how can we improve and evolve the team?”
According to BBC Sport, Martin Zubimendi, a midfielder for Real Sociedad, is anticipated to join the Gunners. They may also want to add a wide player, with a move for Jamie Gittens, a winger for Borussia Dortmund, being suggested due to the Englishman’s strong play in Germany.
