Christian Horner ‘could be SACKED by Red Bull’ with surprise F1 replacement already lined up

The dismal start to the 2025 season has put a great deal of pressure on the Red Bull CEO.

According to a recent story, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner may be fired and replaced by an unexpected person.

Horner has guided Red Bull Racing to more over 120 Grand Prix victories, eight Drivers’ Championships, and six Constructors’ Championships since taking over as Team Principal in 2005.

The British driver’s season isn’t going so well, though, as Red Bull is presently third in the Constructors’ standings after winning just one race so far, due to star driver Max Verstappen.

A recent report claims that the Red Bull management has taken notice of Horner’s decline in performance and is considering firing him soon in favor of a name that no one would have predicted.

The 2025 season has not gone well for the Red Bull CEO thus far, as the team’s car is obviously better than McLaren’s this year and Liam Lawson was dismissed from the team and replaced by Yuki Tsunoda following his poor start.

However, Horner and Red Bull’s situation may be about to change because it is thought that the Formula One team will be presenting new upgrade plans to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.

However, if these improvement plans don’t significantly improve the team’s competitiveness for the rest of the season, Horner may lose the backing of the Thai ownership of Red Bull, according to Italian publication AutoSprint.

Since Mark Mateschitz presently owns 49 percent of Red Bull GmbH and Thai businessman Chalerm Yoovidhya and his family currently own 51 percent, Horner’s future would be seriously jeopardized if he lost his support.

According to the story, if Red Bull decides to fire Horner, they would try to replace him with Oli Oakes, the former Alpine team manager, who is seen to have similarities to Horner’s early career.

Earlier this week, Alpine confirmed that Oakes had left the team. Additionally, the driver lineup was altered when Franco Colapinto was promoted to replace Jack Doohan in the race.

PlanetF1 has responded to these rumors, claiming that their sources have rejected the conjecture about Horner’s status and that the current decline in performance is a temporary problem that does not worry shareholders.
