Arsenal Fans Blast ‘Finished’ Star For Performance Against PSG

Arsenal’s match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final didn’t start well as the Gunners lost 1-0 at home on Tuesday. Mikel Arteta’s team has given themselves a difficult task if they want to advance to the Champions League final for the first time since 2006 after Ousmane Dembele scored the lone goal at the Emirates Stadium to give the Ligue 1 champions a one-goal lead to take back to Paris with them. The two teams will play again in the second leg of their match in France next week.

Although Arsenal started the game slowly, they eventually gained momentum and made two amazing saves from Gianluigi Donnarumma, but they were unable to get past the goalie. Too many of Arteta’s men fell short, even though players like Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly gave it their all and deserved to win the game.

Martin Odegaard was one player in particular that had trouble against the French team. The former Real Madrid player had a terrible evening since he was unable to get going. After the incident, the Arsenal supporters were quick to express their annoyance with his performance on social media.

Arsenal Fans Are Unhappy With Odegaard

They voiced their frustrations online

Arteta called it one of the most important Arsenal games in over 20 years going into the match. However, Odegaard did not perform as expected, and he let PSG down. The Norwegian never actually defeated his opponents and was merely a spectator in the middle of the park. Despite making six attempts during the night, he only finished one dribble and made… passes overall.

Additionally, he only won one of six ground duels and lost the others. He was dispossessed fourteen times and missed all three of his attempted crosses. The actor had a difficult night, and his own fans weren’t hesitant to express their emotions.

“Calling Odegaard a passenger in midfield feels very kind, this guy is deadweight when we have the ball,” one fan wrote on X (Twitter) in response to Odegaard’s lack of effectiveness throughout the evening. Another fan said that this wasn’t what they expected from a captain and that “I cannot defend Odegaard.” This is not an academy teen; this is our captain.

One admirer merely said, “Odegaard is an embarrassing footballer,” while another criticized him for a string of poor performances, saying, “Odegaard has been putting on PATHETIC performances week in and week out.” I apologize; I adore him, but this is unacceptable. Right now, you are essentially a passenger on our squad.”

Lastly, a fifth supporter declared: “Odegaard is finished at the highest level,” interpreting the performance as a preview of what is ahead for the midfield player. At last, I’ve come to terms with that.
