The star of Liverpool, Mohamed Salah, failed to include William Saliba when he was asked to name the two finest defenders he had faced.
It is believed that Salah paid a price of £36.5 million to join Liverpool in the summer of 2017, and since then, he has established himself as one of the most talented players in the club’s long and illustrious history.
Over the course of his career with the Reds, the Egyptian has finished with 243 goals scored in 395 appearances across all competitions.
As a result of Salah’s total of 27 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League during the 24/25 season, Liverpool is only six points away from winning the championship.
With his career, Salah has had the opportunity to compete against some of the most talented defenders that European football has to offer.
He mentioned two that jumped out to him while he was speaking in the year 2023.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Salah was quoted as saying, “There are a few individuals.” In the end, he ended up playing on the right side, but Azpilicueta was considered to be a tough player. I would say that Caesar Azpilicueta was tough.
“I played with Ashley (Cole), and all I can say is that the way he reads the game is absolutely incredible. Oh my god.” I played with him, but I also played against him while I was at Basel. He predicted the game, and he is a really intelligent player.
In addition, he stated, “He is not the tallest, but he read the game and was very demanding.” The fact that he is a fantastic man, that he trained (well), and that he is just a professional guy is evident from his career.
In addition to that, Salah went on to mention three players who he fantasises about having on his squad.
“Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo,” he remarked. “It’s a challenge.” If I were to choose only one player from the Premier League, it would be Kevin (De Bruyne). Because of his vision, I am confident that he would be able to locate me anywhere. I could point to Messi, Ronaldo, or Kevin.
Instead of defending, I’m seeking for goals to score. My goal is to play my game and not worry about anyone else. He (De Bruyne) is a fantastic player, and the rest of the squad is fantastic as well.
