Last week, following months of uncertainty, Mohamed Salah pledged his future to Liverpool. With only a few months remaining on his deal, there were concerns that the Egyptian forward would decide to leave the team on a free transfer.
Salah ultimately made the decision to remain with the team, signing a new two-year deal that would keep him there until 2027. He spoke exclusively to Liverpoolfc.com after signing his new contract, saying, “Of course I’m very excited.” We currently have a fantastic team. We had a fantastic team before as well. However, I signed because I like playing football and I believe we have a chance to win more titles.
I had my greatest years here, so it’s fantastic. I hope to play for ten years, having done so for eight. I’m having fun here and playing football. My career was at its peak during those years.
“I want to express to [the fans] how delighted I am to be here. I think we can win many significant trophies together, which is why I signed up here. Continue to support us, and we’ll do our best; maybe, we’ll take home more trophies in the future.
Ten Liverpool games in 25/26 could be missed by Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool is not happy with FIFA’s decision.

Salah’s genius has been a major factor in Liverpool’s triumph, which is nearly guaranteed to earn their second Premier League championship this season. In what must be considered one of the best individual seasons in Premier League history, the 32-year-old has started every league game this season and has scored 27 goals and provided 18 assists.
Without a doubt, the Reds plan to win back-to-back championships the next season. But they might have to go for a long time without their talisman if they want to accomplish that amazing achievement.
Originally scheduled for the summer of 2025, the Africa Cup of Nations has been postponed because to the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup, which will now take place in the United States in June and July. Traditionally held in January and February, the Africa Cup of Nations will start on December 21 in Morocco and end on January 18.

As a result, it falls around the holiday season, which is the busiest time of year for English teams and when games are played often. The Liverpool Echo claims that if the current calendar is taken as a model, the AFCON would have overlapped with eight Liverpool games, including six Premier League games, even though the schedule for the upcoming season has not yet been made public.

Because Salah would need to travel a few days before the tournament begins and then need some rest after the final, it is likely that AFCON might cut him out of up to ten Liverpool matches if Egypt advances all the way to the final.
Egypt has already decided on their squad for the competition next summer. The seven-time African champions are in Group B with South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Angola. If they are still with the team, players like Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott might be given extra playing time in Salah’s absence.
